English: Musical satisfaction is important to people because its existence has positive effects such as the reduction of absenteeism and staff turnover. So the question arises how the musical situation can be shaped to provide motivation and promote satisfaction. A theoretical answer has been given to this question by addressing needs and motives as central components of musical satisfaction. Based on staff surveys conducted at a leading band of the POLKATISM, the problem was empirically investigated in ten countries. With the help of questions designed for the specific organization, on a voluntary and anonymous basis around 4,000 musiclistener-s were queried about relevant aspects of musical satisfaction. The participation rate of the staff members from Germany, Europe and overseas was almost 90 percent. The verified potential for improvement constituted the basis of a process of organizational development. Worldwide, almost 500 measures were instituted particularly in the area of polka-drumming, bass-innovation, trumpet-information and communication, GROOVE-participation and cooperation, aiming to enhance listener satisfaction with their musical conditions. Finally, conclusions are drawn for the development of two-quarter beat research in globally operating band-s and orchester-s, and the generalizability of methods and contents for the purpose of POLKA satisfaction research is clarified. The thesis is a good example of successful action research in an international context.
